Way back in the Summer last year I took my kids on holiday to North Devon. Whilst there we visited Watermouth Castle where I took this picture of my lad with his head in the local stocks.
At the time I had this strange feeling of Deja Vu come over me. The other day I was flicking through my mothers photograph albums and came across this picture of me as a kid (the stocks have been repositioned but they are the same ones!).
PS. Please excuse the clothes and the haircut - it was the seventies and I was dressed by my mum back then!
PPS. Is it bad that I kept my old red t-shirt for my lad?

I love Watermouth Castle. That hoover collection is to die for! No seriously, that slanty house, or the outdoor pool or the world longest slide or the nursery rhyme barrels or the snakes or the gold panning or the...what a great day out but oddly I've been there so many times and I've never noticed the stocks!
ReplyDeleteHa! A little while ago, there was a story on the news about a husband and wife who were going through old photos of when they were children. Turns out, they both were at Disney World at the same time years and years ago when they did not know each other, and the girl's dad was in the background of one of the boy's pictures.
ReplyDeleteOOH we went there last year - great place!
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with using old clothes!
BNM
That is really awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat's great! Yep, a chip off the old block, or rather the old stocks.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome... sticking your head(s) in the same stocks!
ReplyDeleteI've never been into Watermouth Castle, even though I passed it twice daily on the school double decker, going to school in Ilfracombe and back. But then it wasn't a touristy place, it was just.... well.... Watermoth Castle. No big deal.
Good thing you mentioned they'd repositioned them - I was beginning to think they moved the castle!! Hilarious photos
ReplyDeleteHow funny ! My mum dressed me like that in the 70's too. I had the same haircut and everything !!!!!
